The reconstruction process will not only benefit those families whose homes were destroyed by the earthquake.
The mayor of Durrës, says that in each point building and in two large sites will be built apartments for families in need.
“In the case of the reconstruction program, we have taken into account these needs that the city of Durrës has, making it possible in all point buildings as well as in the two large sites of Spitalla and Manza. We have envisaged an additional number of apartments which will be used for the social housing program. So in addition to covering the need for families that the November 26 earthquake has destroyed the house we will have additional apartments for residents who will need housing“, Said Emiriana Sako.
To erase any traces of the earthquake, the municipality of Durrës has restored all the buildings. Within the month of February, the works in the last lot are expected to be completed.
“We are currently located in a block of social housing where we have sheltered 342 families along with those families who are in Shkozet. We had minor damage from the November 26 earthquake. Just as we worked with 405 buildings in the city of Durrës. This month we will start the last lot, we have 180 buildings that will be rehabilitated common areas and exterior walls and this facility is within this lot which will begin work within February“, Said the mayor.
The Municipality of Durrës has several social policies for the homeless. A family in need can benefit from social housing, 50% rent bonus and soft loans where in the last 5 years 2800 families, the municipality of Durres has given the green light to have a home of their own.
