Berat Gjimshiti has been for years one of the best players of the national team, absolutely one of the favorites and the most beloved for the Albanian fans.
The Defender from the Valley is experiencing a fantastic adventure with Atalanta, which will last until 2026 according to the renewal chord that was signed on Monday.
The 29-year-old, author of 43 matches and a goal with Albania, in an interview with journalist Sokol Xhihani on Supersport touched on several topics during his story, starting from returning to the national team, the two friendlies with Spain (March 26) and Georgia (March 29). ), ending with Adrian Bajrami. The 19-year-old Benfica defender chose the red and blacks over Switzerland and stated that he follows the Gjimshiti model.
How did I find the team? I believe I am very happy to be back after 6 months, I have certainly missed the national team. I saw the boys very well, with a lot of desire to do well in these two matches.
Sorry for the shortages in the national? I felt sorry for myself more because I wanted to play and be in shape. Were important games to go to the World Cup. Fate did not want to, but still the boys have played very good games. Now I’m back, I’m happy.
Spain? Friendly matches, especially in today’s football, are not just friendly, as every team wants to win the match. Guarantee that we will give the maximum, we will try to put in trouble one of the strongest national teams in the world. We will try to put themmost in difficulty with our qualities.
Can we further increase the quality? Yes, you can. You can learn a lot from these matches. Even the coach needs to see some new players who have come to the national team for the first time. We can do some rehearsals as a team, but I think they are friendly to help for future matches in the Nations League.
Renewal with Atalanta? The reasons were numerous. I have been under contract with Atalanta for more than 6 years, I feel very good: especially in recent years, with the progress that Atalanta has made as a team, especially me personally, with many experiences in Europe. It was a very nice thing, I am very happy that I was able to renew the contract, I believe we can achieve many other successes with the team.
Two goals against Olympiacos in the Europa League? I felt good, as I missed the goal. I have had a few chances this season but the ball was not getting in. For 2 and a half minutes I scored two goals, it was a bit of a surprise, but I was still very happy. The victory was more important, as we went with more confidence in the second match in Athens.
Adrian Bajrami stated that I am his idol, can he help the national team in the coming years? At first it seemed to me a very upright and educated boy. I did not know him, I did not know that he had lived in Switzerland, so we also spoke German.
I’m happy to say this because it’s a beautiful thing for me. I believe he has everything to achieve what he wants, in the end he decides for himself what he wants. He has to give his best in everything, because in career it is not only beautiful things that lead forward. There are also bad things that lead you backwards, but then take you two steps forward“, Concluded Berat Gjimshiti.
