The Anti-Corruption Agency in Kosovo has launched investigative proceedings against officials of the Serb List, the leading Kosovo Serb party, which has the support of official Belgrade.
The reason for starting the procedure is that the officials of the Serbian List, who hold various positions at the central and local level in the institutions of Kosovo, have not regularly reported their assets or income, confirmed for Radio Free Europe, on January 24 , by the Anti-Corruption Agency.
The procedure was initiated against the President of the Serbian List, Goran Rakic, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo from the Serbian List, Slavko Simic, the head of the Parliamentary Group of the Serbian List in the Kosovo Assembly, Igor Simic, MPs Zoran Mojsilovic and Verica Ceranic, former MP Ivan Todosijevic, the mayor of North Mitrovica, Milan Radojevic, the mayor of Leposavic, Zoran Todic, and the councilor of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, Aleksandar Spiric.
Also, the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency has initiated an investigation against Zlatko Minic, Miodrag Ralic, Verolub Stankovic, Milorad Jovanovic, Milan Ivanovic and Srdjan Nikolic.
The Agency says that all investigative actions are being taken regarding the collection and analysis of relevant documentation.
In the case of Lubinko Karadzic, a former member of the Kosovo Assembly and deputy mayor of Gracanica, the Basic Prosecution of Pristina has suspended investigations.
In the Serbian system, Karadzic was the head of the Provisional Municipal Authority of Pristina, an institution that is considered illegal and parallel by the Kosovo authorities.
In the case of the former mayor of ërtrpce / Shtërpcë, Bratislav Nikoliq, the Basic Prosecution in Prishtina has dismissed the Agency’s criminal report.
Nikolic is also the coordinator of the temporary municipal body of Strpce, according to the Serbian system. He was arrested in late December last year for illegally issuing construction permits in Brezovica, after which he was remanded in custody for one month.
Radio Free Europe, in August last year reported on “double wages”, because most officials of the Serbian List have at least one job in the Kosovo system and one in the Serbian system.
This party was founded in 2013 with the support of Belgrade and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Although Serb List officials are required by law to report all revenues to the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency, but also to a similar agency in Serbia, they do so selectively.
What dual functions do Serbian List officials perform?
The head of the Serbian List, Goran Rakic, has not reported to the Anti-Corruption Agency in Kosovo that he performs two other functions within the Serbian system.
He is the director of the Public Enterprise “Standard” in North Mitrovica and teaching assistant at the Higher School of Economics of Professional Studies in Peja, which operates within the Serbian system and has moved to Leposavic, a Serb-majority municipality in north of Kosovo.
For these two positions, Rakic is paid about 92,000 dinars, or about 750 euros.
Rakic did not even report to the Serbian agency on the income he receives in Kosovo institutions.
Igor Simic is a member of the Assembly of Kosovo, but he has also received income for the functions he performs in the Serbian system, from the Pension and Disability Insurance, as well as from the Faculty of Economics in North Mitrovica.
Zoran Todic is the mayor of Leposavic according to the Kosovo system and the mayor of Leposavic according to the Serbian system.
Milan Radojevic is the mayor of North Mitrovica and receives a salary from the budget of the Government of Kosovo, but he is also the director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund of Serbia in North Mitrovica.
The situation is similar with other Serbian List officials, as most of them perform functions in the Kosovo and Serbian systems and do not report to either the Kosovo Anti-Corruption Agency or the Serbian Anti-Corruption Agency. / REL /
