The big ones pay less taxes collected with lots of taxes from the smaller ones

Large companies in Albania have reduced the taxes they pay to the state. From an analysis of figures at the Directorate of Large Taxpayers, which focuses on collecting revenues from large companies in the country, the tax burden at 34%. (TAB) in 2021 was 47%.

The non-payment of taxes by large companies is causing me to increase taxes to be collected by the Directorate of Tirana, which collects them mainly from medium and small businesses.

There was a regulation somewhere more than 15 years ago, which defined who the big taxpayers would be. Apparently this mechanism of entry and exit of large businesses did not work and this has led to a reduction of the burden. No business transfer has been made to this Directorate. It is a problem that stems from bureaucratic actions.

In these conditions, according to experts, the possibility of tax evasion is not excluded.

Since they are not in this directorate let them suspect that that tax is not taken or bear that certain burden that they would have to pay if they were considered VIP taxpayers. As long as we do not have an analysis we can even suspect that there are also phenomena of tax evasion.

In the 2020 fiscal package, the government halved the dividend tax, from 15 to 8%, as a mitigation measure for large companies during the pandemic, while on the other hand expanding the tax base for the double-employed.

These policies, accompanied by the fiscalization process, have created uncertainty for businesses and tax collection in general. This is also observed in the increase of tax debt. International institutions have often called on the government not to change taxes. Only in the first three months of 2022, 30 billion ALL more taxes were collected.
