The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted after the decision of the Constitutional Court that did not dismiss the head of state Ilir Meta and overturned the decision of the Albanian Parliament.
The US Embassy in Tirana states that “The Constitutional Court of Albania, which became operational in December 2020, is demonstrating its ability to fulfill its primary and essential function by examining the facts and arguments presented by the relevant parties, discussing these facts and arguments based on the Constitution and giving decisions that reflect independence and integrity ”.
“The United States strongly supports the implementation of justice reform, including a professional, independent judiciary, as an essential institution to guarantee the rule of law, as well as the separation and balance of powers,” the US Embassy said in a statement.
