It’s not the first time that images from Mars have aroused great curiosity, but a photo taken these days by NASA’s Curiosity rover has sparked the imagination of astronomy and science fiction fans more than usual, but also that of supporters of conspiracy theories.
The photo taken of the red planet surface by the rover’s Mastcam camera, in the Sharp Mountain area, shows a rectangular opening, which looks like a door, carved of course, not by human hands.
On the internet, the idea was immediately thrown that this seems seen as proof of the fact that on Mars there is an alien civilization, which we do not see because it lives underground, hidden by our instruments.
In September last year, NASA space exploration equipment successfully assembled rock samples from Mars for the first time to bring them to Earth.
Such a venture was not so easy, because the previous attempts of the robotic device “Perseverance” had failed, as the softest stones it had collected crumbled and did not reach the titanium assembly.
NASA plans to collect about 36 such champions within a decade.
