The committee for coordination and assessment of the situation with COVID-19 met this afternoon in which the Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the Minister of Health, Rifat Latifi also participated.
In this meeting it was assessed that the epidemiological situation regarding COVID-19 in Kosovo is calm, but that this must not turn into negligence of the measures in force against COVID-19.
Prime Minister Kurti is quoted as saying that the implementation of measures against COVID-19 is an urgent issue and that any release of the measures is related to the implementation of the measures in force.
“The Prime Minister warned that the presence of the Omicron variant of SARS COV-2 in different countries and the strict non-observance of the measures in force can overturn the achievements so far in the fight against COVID-19”, reads the communiqué of the Government of Kosovo .
Minister Rifat Latifi stated that the disciplinary implementation of the measures in force, which are proportional to the existing epidemiological situation, will have two tangible results.
“It will help us keep the number of cases as small as possible, by not burdening the hospital staff and infrastructure, consequently reducing the costs against COVID-19 and will affect the promotion of further vaccination of the population with the COVID vaccine. 19, in particular of that category that for various reasons has not yet received the first or second dose of the vaccine “, Latifi is quoted.
The Minister also spoke about the importance of strengthening vaccination against COVID-19, calling on the population to be vaccinated and complete this important process, at a time when the Omicron variant has been registered in several countries and its spread is quite fast.
