The police operation codenamed “Bitcoin” is finalized, to crack down on criminal activity in the field of computer fraud.
The operation was conducted by the Malësi e Madhe Police Commissariat, in cooperation with the Section for Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime in DVP Shkodra, Unit “C” in the Investigation Directorate of the Criminal Police Department and OSHEE, Malësia e Madhe.
14 electronic devices used to generate virtual cryptocurrencies were found and seized in the warehouse of an apartment.
The suspected perpetrator of this criminal activity, who supplied equipment with illegal electricity connections, is handcuffed.
Following the work to prevent, document and crack down on computer fraud activity, the investigative structures of the Police Commissariat, Malësi e Madhe, thanks to the cooperation with OSHEE, have administered operational police information that in Malësi e Madhe the activity of production of virtual cryptocurrencies, illegally.
The structures of the Police Commissariat, Malësi e Madhe, in cooperation with the Section for Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime in DVP Shkodra, with Unit “C” in the Investigation Directorate in the Criminal Police Department, and OSHEE, Malësi e Madhe, have organized and finalized the police operation codenamed “Bitcoin”.
As part of this operation, a control was exercised in the apartment of the citizen MH, in the village of Malësi e Madhe, Shkodër.
During the control, near the warehouse of this apartment were found and seized 14 devices of different electronic brands, which are suspected to have been used for illegal generation of virtual cryptocurrencies, as well as other accessories needed for the development of this activity.
These devices were supplied with illegal electricity connections.
At the end of the investigative actions in this case, the owner of the apartment, citizen MH, 60 years old, resident in Malësi e Madhe, was arrested in flagrante delicto, for the criminal offenses “Computer fraud”, “Theft of electricity”, “Concealment of income” and “Unlicensed commercial activity”.
Investigations continue to identify other perpetrators involved in this criminal activity.
The procedural materials were referred to the Shkodra Judicial District Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
