The Government of Montenegro in today’s session will discuss the establishment of a basic contract with the Serbian Orthodox Church (SRC), and whether they will vote on it at the same time will depend on the decision of Prime Minister Dritan Abazovic (Civil Movement URA).
It is known that Abazovic was told by DPS and SDP at the meeting of the party leaders of the parliamentary majority that if the document is approved today, they will immediately cancel the support for the Government. The leader of the DPS, Djukanovic, according to the source of the Vijesti newspaper, suggested the formation of a commission to deal with the basic contract.
This is the epilogue of yesterday’s meeting of the leaders of the ruling parties and the session of the Government Commission for the Political System, which were held because of the basic contract, which produced disagreements within the parliamentary majority and threatened the survival of Abazovic’s cabinet. The Prime Minister told TVCG last night that he will decide whether the vote will be held today or, as he said, “in the end, if some ministers are absent, it will end in an electronic session.”
Although according to the Government Regulation, the working version of the basic contract had to go to the Commission for the Political System before the session, but it was not even discussed in that body.
According to “Vijesti” information, Deputy Prime Ministers Rashko Konjevic (SDP) and Vladimir Jokovic (Socialist People’s Party-SNP) proposed at the Commission session that the document should not be reviewed, but should go directly to the Government.

The source of “Vijesti” said that the head of the SDP Konjevic said that his party and the DPS, if the document is approved today, will immediately cancel the support for the government.
The head of state and leader of the DPS, Milo Djukanovic, remained reserved in the meeting and then suggested that later the basic contract be decided and in the meantime a commission be formed which will consist of lawyers, historians, representatives of NGOs and other experts, who would deal with the constitutionality and legality of each article of the contract.
In the event that DPS and SDP turn their backs on Abazovic, to overthrow the Government or shorten the mandate of the Assembly, this could lead the country to extraordinary elections
