The 18-year-old who drowned this Thursday while diving into the sea to save two minors, one of whom was his brother, was a footballer in the 2017 Eagles Academy.
The minors were in danger of drowning, so Anri Kashiku did not hesitate to go to save them. A group of young people and teenagers had gone to the beach to spend the day, but after noon the sea with waves put two minors in danger and 18-year-old Anri Kashiku went to save his brother and his friend. And while the minors got ashore with the help of him and other people, the young man could not. The waves moved his body and the border police were immediately notified, which started the search for his rescue. At around 15.00, his body was found lifeless in the sea. Born in Librazhd and living in the “Youth” Sector of Durrës, 18-year-old Anri Kashiku was active with a youth football team, but apart from this sport, he also had a passion for swimming.
Outside the Durrës hospital, his family and relatives are drowning in pain and screaming for the fate of the young man who drowned along with his dreams, while the two minors are under the care of doctors.
The tragic event once again highlighted an early problem, that of insecurity on the beaches, where, although it is a legal obligation, beach watchers are absent. Public and private authorities openly challenge the legal obligation for the presence of lifeguards on the beaches. The watchtowers continue to stand empty even after the drownings that occur every season at sea.
