The Government of Northern Macedonia decided on Tuesday, March 29, to lift the obligation to wear masks in primary schools.
The decision of the Government was approved on the recommendation of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, which came up with this proposal after improving the epidemiological situation with coronavirus.
Masks continue to be mandatory for high school students, while in universities teaching with physical presence is allowed.
The government has also approved another proposal to repeal the decision to introduce certificates for COVID-19 on the terraces of cafes.

The government also changed the decision on the internal capacities of gastronomy facilities, from 50 percent to 75 percent, but keeping the protective masks and respecting other decisions.
According to a recent report by the Institute of Public Health, Macedonian authorities conducted more tests last week than in the previous week, however the infection rate dropped by 7.5 per cent and 1,700 new cases were registered.
Only 84 patients are hospitalized, which is 24 percent less compared to last week.
The increase is in terms of deaths, and according to data, in the last seven days 17 people have died, which is 13 percent more than a week ago.
But compared to the first three weeks, the death toll is much lower.
Alekandar Petlickovski, chairman of the Commission for Infectious Diseases, told Radio Free Europe that Northern Macedonia will lift other protection measures against the pandemic, but in some phases, so as not to jeopardize the good epidemiological situation, which, according to him, guarantees Northern Macedonia a more relaxing summer.
