Arbër Sula, the policeman who killed Jurgen Duka in the first minutes of December 14 on “Irfan Tomini” street in Tirana, surrendered today at the police station, after continuous talks with the police and his family.
Jurgen Duka (Meziri), had a conflict with police officer Arbër Sula, who was out of service, where the latter shot him with a firearm.
The quarrel started for banal reasons for the queue at the market while they were passing the products to the cash register.
The victim and the perpetrator had entered the market as customers and the debate has started over who would pay first. After the physical debate, the police officer pulled out his gun, shooting him and leaving the young man dead.
The 29-year-old was able to escape the injuries received and died at the University Trauma Hospital.
The Tirana Judicial District Court has previously imposed the measure “Arrest in prison” for the young man, while the materials were passed to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office.
Jurgen Duka, who lived between Great Britain where he has a family and Tirana, had a conflict under the influence of alcohol with Sula who was waiting in line to pay, who had come to take a drug test in the capital.
Arbër Sula was inspired to become a police officer, not only by the fact that he grew up a few meters away from the Security Academy, where his parents have their apartment, but also because during his adolescence he served as a waiter for police officers and academy students in the bar opposite this institution.
But the security academy could not provide the young policeman with two things, how to use the weapon and restraint.
The Internal Affairs and Complaints Service also launched a special investigation which shows that the police officer was not on duty at the time of the event, but the points above ‘i’ for the event will be decided by the Prosecution.
It is learned that Jurgen Duka is a person with a previous criminal record. In 2020 he was handcuffed along with Elison Hysenbelli as part of the anti-drug operation between Italy and Albania that took place in Marche, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Liguria and would be extradited to the neighboring country for trial.
The court of Tirana imposed the measure “obligation to appear” for Orgest Drazhi, Jurgen Duka’s friend, who was present at the scene.
