Girls in sexy and vulgar underwear made the Victoria’s Secret group a company worth more than $7 billion, but behind closed doors they hid some of the darkest demons, writes the British daily The Sun.
Wearing only belts, heels and corsets models such as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Gisele Bundchen, Miranda Kerr, Heidi Klum and Helena Christensen, the American company became a leader synonymous with women’s underwear.
But although these people preached “female empowerment” behind the facade of glitter and smiles was a whole world of harassment, imposition, racism and even a relationship with one of the most notorious sex maniacs in the world.
A new documentary shows the connections between the founder of Victoria’s Secret, Les Wexner, and the pedophile financier, human trafficker, Jeffrey Epstein.
It said the two maniacs had been close friends for 20 years, lived in the same building, and that Wexner gave Epstein power over most of his businesses.
Among the shocking claims is that Epstein used his connections to bring new models to the company.
Epstein reportedly hanged himself in his cell while awaiting charges of human trafficking and sexual abuse of young girls, sometimes underage, at his properties.
A company executive says Wexner was aware of his friend’s abuse, but denies any involvement in criminal activity.
In the three-part documentary ‘Victoria’s Secret: Angels and Devils’ the former models talk about the “bad things they had to endure behind the catwalk curtain” that everyone turned a blind eye to because they were all making so much money.
Cindy Fedus-Fields, was the manager of the Victoria’s Secret Direct branch, says: “In 1993 I was told that a recruiter for Victoria’s models came to New York. When I heard that his name is Jeffrey Epstein, I understood that there would be trouble.”
The powerful man from New York was friends with British Prince Andrew and former president Bill Clinton, while he started working with Wexner from 1986.
Alicia Arden, a lingerie model and actress who starred in the ‘Baywatch’ series, says she was taken to a hotel in Santa Monica to meet Epstein in 1997 after he worked for Victoria’s Secret.
During their meeting he told her to strip down to her underwear, gave her $100 and touched her behind.
She then says that she filed a police report but no action was taken.
Frederique van der Wal, a former Victoria’s Secret model, says she was surprised when other girls were ordered to audition with Epstein.
Wexner, 84, has already bought a large property in Albany, Ohio, and rarely gives interviews.
