Images crafted in fashion and beauty magazines have been cited as a direct cause of a growing incidence of eating disorders in young people.
For a long time, having an “ideal body” has been associated with unrealistic images and body shapes and unhealthy and dangerous diets.
“International Day without Diet” is set with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle for all body types.
AgroWeb.org introduces you below to how this day was defined as such and how to worship it in the best way.
History of International Day Without Diet
The initiative was taken by Mary Evans, in 1992. Its purpose was to help men and women around the world appreciate their bodies more.
Mary, who had overcome anorexia herself, created her own organization “Diet Breakers” and later created the “International Day without Diet”.
The goal is to help and raise awareness among people about getting the right treatment for eating disorders.
Her plan includes:
Educating people to follow the diet properly.
All people take a one-day break from their diets.
Accept the variety of body shapes and sizes. Because according to her, bodies are beautiful in all their shapes and sizes.
Considering that diets do not work and weight loss is regained in almost every case within 5 years, and that people can create unhealthy habits, organizations around the world are committed to forcing the fashion industry to label modified images.
And completely rule out the use of photoshop in their advertising campaigns.
How can you celebrate this day
There are a number of ways you can participate in International Diet Day. This includes:
Realizing that your body is beautiful and special just the way it is.
Understand the ineffectiveness of commercial diets and learn about the food industry.
Compliment colleagues on contributions, achievements, and skills, rather than focusing on appearance.
Especially on this day, consume what you want and do not worry about calories!
Be adventurous and cook something you have always wanted but have never done before.
You can also make other people aware of eating disorders.
So you can celebrate this day in many ways and the most important thing to remember:
Love your body and love yourself as you are! Do not judge on the basis of a number, and do not overestimate the efforts to lose weight just to look beautiful.
Celebrate by choosing a healthier lifestyle./ Agroweb
