Unemployed fishermen in Vlora, the price of oil has forced them to turn off the engines: We will raise chickens on the boat

The fisheries sector in Vlora is on the verge of survival. The main problems raised by fishermen are precisely those related to infrastructure related to the expansion of the port entrance and the mooring of ships in the area of Triport of Vlora. ” We pay licenses for parking, lighting, water and greenery, billboards at sea. We do not have water, we do not have light, we do not have greenery. “Here in the evening, the other puts his finger in his eye and does not look at it,” they say.

They also show that those who have small boats (7 meters) do not receive oil without excise duty, since to get excise oil you have to have the tank with an amount of 1000 liters or 3000 liters. “Not that we will never go out, but we will also die for bread. If the oil does not go down, we will moor the ship and say it is for sale. There is neither a director nor a representative office here. We pay 1 90 thousand new lekë, we go out or we do not go out to sea ”adds one of the fishermen. In these conditions they unanimously claim that they will leave fishing and raise chickens in their boats. Another fisherman expresses his regret that he came from Greece with a vehicle and here he does not benefit anything “I have fuel for two days then I will close it, it is not worth it anymore, because we get cod for 600 lek while it is sold to the consumer for 1500 lekë. Why?”.

Fiks Fare was also interested in the Vlora Directorate of Fisheries. Director Reshat Xhelilaj regarding the dissatisfaction of fishermen said that they take care of the sidewalks and lighting as much as they can. But he says that they are in the investment phase where the inauguration of the brand is expected soon and then the investment will be made in the water network. “There will be water within May,” said the director, although he did not rule out delays in when the investment inauguration was left.
