In a meeting with a group of social workers, he described them as the heroes without Tirana’s capes, who help anyone in need in difficult days. “Today we are in a situation where we are being impacted by the stock market movement. We are highly dependent on world markets and we need to explain that many of the issues we would like to resolve are not in our hands. Lack of supply from one market, affects the whole market and the price increases because there is not enough supply to meet demand. What are we going to do? We will protect the most vulnerable part of society. I know there were people who went to Maluma’s concert and paid 1000 euros for a picture with him. But we live in capitalism, there are people who do such things. I know that there are people in protest, whom I know personally, who have a fleet of cars, but politically they are interested in going there. But, we live in a free country, where you can join any cause and purpose. But the question is: What are we going to do with the real problems? First, are government measures. If we calculate that today the monthly basket food has increased by 25 thousand ALL, then the additional payment of 30 thousand ALL, for basket food, for those who have low salaries, low pensions, who are with economic assistance or who are treated in our social centers, is a compensation that must be done “, said Veliaj.
He added that anyone who has the opportunity, should give a hand in this difficult situation. “For someone who is a banker, or who works in an insurance company, not only is there no need for this compensation, but it would be good for them to make a contribution as well. In addition to the work that the government does with the indexation of pensions or compensation with 30 thousand ALL for basket foods, help should also go to the other level, related to human interaction, to help a lonely grandparent. So, it is necessary to do the financial treatment, and I am glad that today we have a board for controlling the price of oil, we have a financial package that indexes pensions, we have a bonus for those with economic assistance, but if we leave it with so, it is work left half done. He also commented on the protests of recent days, when he said that those who take advantage of these protests, must first serve someone in need, as social workers do every day. “We live in a very politicized country.
