Vetëvendosje Movement MP Jetmire Vrenezi was sentenced to three years in prison and a fine of two thousand euros.
The MP was accused of abusing her official position while holding the position of inspector in the Municipality of Prizren.
According to the decision of the Basic Court of Prizren, Vrenezi in the capacity of construction inspector, knowing that he has no right to demolish the building, since the injured party had submitted the application for legalization, Vrenezi in violation of the law, after inspections has decided to the demolition of the building “Abi Bazaar” in July 2019.
The indictment was filed against her that same year and Jetmire Vrenezi took over the mandate of deputy after the elections of February 14, 2021.
Vetëvendosje Movement has come out in defense of the deputy.
Adnan Rrustemi: The decision to demolish the illegal object was fair, principled and in the service of the public interest. As we stated then, we say even now, in the violation is not the deputy Vrenezi nor her colleagues, but the Prosecution of Prizren that stood by the illegality.
Holding the position of deputy Vrenez, the Constitution of Kosovo allows her to hold it until a final decision of the Court. But, she will appeal the decision of the Basic.
The former director of the Prizren Inspectorate, Islam Thaqi, was also sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 2,000 euros for the same charges. Meanwhile, the four inspectors at the time, Egzona Morina-Thaçi, Arian Tarkau, Isë Bislimaj and Shqipron Krasniqi, were acquitted.
In the summer of 2019, the inspectorate demolished the annex of the shopping center and the injured party demanded compensation from the municipality around 70 thousand euros.
