Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he expected to be pressured again over the issue of sanctions against Russia and said those who raised the issue would “get his answer”.
“We have already voted against aggression in Ukraine at the UN and we support territorial Ukraine, just as we support Serbia’s territorial integrity, which is not the case with many EU members,” Vucic told reporters at the start of the summit.
Asked what he expects from today’s summit, Vucic replied briefly: “Nothing.”
The EU-Western Balkans Summit has started at the European Union headquarters, where 27 European heads of state and government are discussing with their counterparts from the region the challenges they face together, especially in light of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Later the meeting of the European Council takes place. In both of these meetings it is expected to discuss the acceleration of the enlargement process, the idea of creating a European Political Community.
