Former Socialist MP Alqi Bllako, already charged with abuse of office and corruption, is under arrest.
Although Bllako handed over the mandate before the Council of Mandates and Rules of Procedure convened, his process until he was handcuffed was followed by shadows of doubt, or speculation about his possible removal. In the announcements that followed the decisions of the GJKKO for the measure of arrest against the persons involved in the investigation for the incinerators, the measure of the former socialist deputy was not reflected in the official decision distributed to the media.
At noon on Thursday, it was announced that Alqi Bllako had surrendered to the Tirana Police Directorate, but again information from this institution was missing. While the arrival of the former socialist deputy in the premises of the Tirana police was not seen by the cameras positioned there since Thursday morning.
Following the ‘prison arrest’ measure given by the GJKKO, the police undertook a series of checks in order to execute the decision, while the following hours increased the suspicions for a departure of the former MP Bllako. What added to the suspicions was a photo posted on social networks by his lawyer, Sokol Hazizaj, while looking out the window of a plane with the inscription ‘Goodbye’.
This morning, the General Directorate of State Police, while talking about false news published in the media, wrote that the former MP Bllako was in the Local Police Directorate in Tirana.
“The General Directorate of State Police informs the public that despite some false news on the escape of the citizen Alqi Bllako, this citizen is in the Local Police Directorate of Tirana since last night.“- it was said in the notification of the police.
But, while the police hurried to deny the media, the Special Prosecution denied it, according to which the decision to arrest former MP Alqi Bllako was taken in the early hours of this morning.
“At 15.45, on 31.03.2022, the court decision to impose a security measure on the citizen Alqi Bllako was given for execution to the structures of the State Police. The decision was executed by the State Police at 03.30 on 01.04.2022. ”-is specified in the letter of SPAK, for the former deputy Bllako.
Former MP Alqi Bllako, the Prosecution has filed charges of “Abuse of duty” in collaboration and “Passive corruption of senior state officials.” He is suspected that in cooperation with the former Minister of Environment Lefter Koka, and another official of the Ministry, have prepared falsified documentation regarding the data of the expropriated property, for the construction of the incinerator of Fier, changing the definition from “field” to “Land”, increasing the value of expropriation.
He is also suspected of favoring the beneficiary company of the concession, in exchange for “irregular benefits” with a value of about 150 thousand dollars, which have gone in the form of high monthly payments for his father, employed by the incinerator of Tirana.
