Xhaçka: Russian aggression, the International Criminal Court will investigate it for war crimes

The extraordinary meeting of the Foreign Ministers of NATO countries today reaffirmed strongly the determination of the allies to support the people of Ukraine in the heroic war that has won the admiration and respect of the whole world.

Many European countries, the European Union itself, the United States of America have taken measures in support of the Ukrainian people that would have been unimaginable perhaps even a few months ago, supplying them with weapons, passing several packages of massive sanctions that are give a very heavy blow to Russia, tremendously increasing the cost of this criminal aggression, which already with the cooperation of Albania has referred to the International Criminal Court to investigate war crimes.

Albania has played a significant role in these efforts to support Ukraine, even with concrete material assistance, but especially in the field of diplomacy, where the day before yesterday, as you had the opportunity to follow, a really important victory was achieved by approving a resolution by an absolute majority of votes. co-sponsored by Albania where Russia was asked to end the war.

I stressed at the meeting that more needs to be done, more needs to be done to stop the unjustified attack on Ukraine and on the security of the international system.

I want to guarantee the Albanian citizens, who have shown during these days an extraordinary solidarity with the Ukrainian people by collecting aid, that the role played by Albania has been maximally appreciated by the allies and that together with them we will continue the good work that we have done during these weeks in the Security Council, in NATO, in the OSCE, in the Council of Europe and in every international forum where we can offer our support to the Ukrainian people, whose struggle is not just a struggle for the survival of Ukraine but a fight for peace and security on the European continent.
