New details have been revealed regarding the conversation that Prime Minister Edi Rama had with some of the residents who are protesting against the construction project in the “5 May” area.
In a video published by Top Channel, Rama appears during a discussion with Mother Lisa, to whom he says: “You can not talk to me like this… listen here, when you are in front of me…”
Another resident, who filmed the prime minister in a debate with Mother Lisa, says that Rama did not listen to us.
“The Prime Minister did not listen to us“, She says.
Residents of the May 5 area affected by the construction project of the new neighborhood and residents of Lapraka affected by the project for the Great Ring Road protested today in front of the parliament building and the Municipality of Tirana. They have held the prime minister accountable for the demolition of the houses and when new houses will be built for them.
To discuss the resolution of this situation, the Prime Minister agreed to communicate with a representative elected by the residents themselves, who elected three people, among them Mother Lisa.
He stressed that all families whose houses have been demolished will be compensated with flats, regardless of whether or not they have a home ownership document. According to him, until the moment when the apartments are built, the residents will receive rent bonuses.
The prime minister said residents have been notified of the collapse since June last year. Rama says that 51 families have signed the agreement to receive compensation from the state.
He said the agreements are completely legal and are registered in the cadastre.
“These agreements will be registered in the cadastre as an obligation of the state to these residents and once the house is ready, they will be put inside“, Said Rama.
But residents say they have not received any guarantees.
“Words take the wind. I do not take home with the taxes of the people“, Says Mrs. Liza, whose house in the neighborhood of May 5 collapsed.
“The project for the new neighborhood of” 5 May “in addition to residential buildings includes services, educational institutions and public institutions”
This project will be developed in several phases and in the new neighborhood of May 5 will have more than 13 thousand inhabitants.
The new apartments will house the homeless from the earthquake and the residents, whose houses will be demolished as a result of the construction of this neighborhood.
They will receive full compensation through the exchange of an apartment in the new buildings with the same meters2 that they had.
So far, the first two buildings with 100 apartments have been inaugurated.
Residents whose house will be demolished will receive a rent bonus until they move into new housing. In total there are 102 buildings that need to be demolished to continue working on the project, 60 of which have already been demolished.
