The intense rains of the last two days have created several hotspots in the entire region of Gjirokastra. Thus, the stream of Sopot or Lazarat has blocked the connecting road between the two neighborhoods, blocking the traffic for one of them. Two vehicles of the municipality have been trying to unblock the situation for several hours however the inert inflows are very high.
“Right now a neighborhood is blocked because it has been raining all night. There are about 80 families there and the situation is very worrying because we have the cemetery on the other side. “
“Rain has fallen but we have not had a situation like this before. See how the flow is changing. Another rain and it will tear the road “
Other areas blocked by rainfall are the road to the village Zhulat, the road to Golem covered with inert and impassable, some problems with the inerts of the Çullo stream in the Gërhot neighborhood of Gjirokastra, problems in the secondary axes of Qestorat, Luftinja, Buz, Ballaban , Përmet mountains as well as Pogon and Zagori units.
Meanwhile, this morning, the authorities asked the citizens not to cross the axis leading to the Lunxhëri unit due to the flooding of the axis at the Aznak bridge. Under water is also a considerable area of agricultural land as well as territories planted with vineyards, fruit trees and hazelnuts.
