Dvorani is one of the leading producers of cherries, which this year is sold in the market at a very high price.
Its growers have protested as they say costs have risen as they sell at extremely low prices so the cherry is still left unharvested.
There are several factors that have brought about a difficult situation where the links from producer to consumer do not function properly.
According to them, the price per kilogram of cherries has reached 20 lekë, while previously it was 120 lekë. high prices of agricultural inputs as well as fuel, along with labor costs and other expenses have forced farmers to leave the cherry on the tree.
Dvorani is just one of the villages in Korça focused on fruit growing but the situation looks the same and farmers are hoping for support from the state.
