Believers turned to Orthodox churches for Blessed Water Day services throughout the Durrës region.
In the city of Durrës, the Divine Liturgy was performed in the church of “Apostle Paul and St. Asti”. During the ceremony in the church, the blessing of the water took place, which was then distributed in the depots outside the church, from where the believers of Durrës received the blessing of this day.
Believers led by the city gang then headed to the quays of the seaport, where the cross was thrown into the waters of the Adriatic.
The cross was seized by 30-year-old Esi Papajorgji who jumped into the water alone to catch the cross and advance an important tradition for Orthodox believers.
