Ford is withdrawing 2.9 million vehicles from the market after it turned out that many drivers are showing problems at the moment of parking their car.
Some of the vehicles have problems with gears and as a result may walk in an unwanted direction.
The National Highway Safety Administration says there are six reports of property damage and four reports of injuries that could be related to the problem.
the transmission in the affected Ford cars and SUVs may not be in the parking position alone, although the gear position indicates that the vehicle has been moved to park. Many drivers after getting out of the vehicle have noticed that the car has moved out of place, increasing the risk of injury or collision, according to the safety regulator.
A problem similar to the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee caused the death of actor Anton Yelchin in 2016. Yelchin’s Jeep rolled off his path and crashed into a brick pillar in front of his Los Angeles home.
Fortunately, NHTSA has not reported any deaths caused by this problem with Ford’s withdrawal.
The vehicles that Ford is pulling from the market are the 2013 to 2019 Escape model, the 2013-2018 C-Max, the 2013-2016 Fusion and the 2013-2021 Transit Connect.
