A man from North Carolina in the US has rejected the possibility of a kidney transplant that would save his life, as the hospital asks him to be vaccinated against COVID before the procedure.
Chad Carswell is crippled in the leg and has to undergo dialysis three times a week as his kidney function is at about five percent of capacity.
He says he was undergoing the transplant process at Atrium Health Wake Forest Hospital in Winston-Salem when doctors told him he needed to be vaccinated before proceeding with the procedure.
“They then told me that ‘the last thing we need to talk about is your vaccination status,'” Carswell said.
“And there I politely told him that then there is nothing to talk about. It was not open to debate whether I would do it or not. He told me afterwards, I know you will die if you do not. “And I told him, ‘I’m ready to die,'” Carswell told the local network WCNC Charlotte.
