The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that Serbia should be treated as “a state that is not based on European values.”
During a roundtable discussion at the Munich Security Conference, Osmani said that Russia’s influence through Serbia is evident. According to Osmani, Kosovo is facing an “aggressive and destabilizing neighbor” state.
According to the announcement, Osmani said that it is necessary for a coordinated effort of the international community in relation to the security situation in the Western Balkans.
In this roundtable, where the future of the Western Balkans was discussed, attended by the European Union Special Envoy for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, President Osmani said that Kosovo is engaged in the dialogue process with Serbia, which mediated by the European Union and that in this process, according to her, Pristina has shown constructiveness.
“Kosovo has always contributed to long-term peace and security and in dialogue has shown active commitment by giving concrete proposals,” Osmani was quoted as saying, adding that the process should focus on mutual recognition as the only solution that ensures long-term peace and stability. in the region ”.
Kosovo and Serbia started the dialogue in 2011. But, since July 2021, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, as the bearers of the dialogue, have not held any meeting.
The stalemate in the talks is believed to have been caused by disagreements over the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities in Kosovo.
In 2013, the two countries reached an agreement to establish this association, but its implementation has stalled.
Prime Minister Kurti says that there can be no mono-ethnic association in Kosovo.
Serbia, on the other hand, insists on its formation.
