The fire that engulfed the regional hospital of Fier today is suspected to have started in the imaging laboratory.
According to the imager Aristotel Kusta, an electric spark in the imaging laboratory was the cause of the flames.
“What caught fire is the film washing machine. It took action and caused a fire. The fire started there and then took the whole laboratory. There were cupboards, shelves for washing films, they have all gone out of use”.
At that moment, there were no people in the laboratories, but the flames caused extensive material damage.
The smoke and flames caused panic among the patients who were in the hospital premises. The police gave first aid to the patients, while the firefighters put out the fire.
