The 44 443m superyacht belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarch Andrey Melnichenko has been spotted at a port in the UAE.
The footage shows the luxury ship anchored in the port of Ras al-Khaimah.
In March, the superyacht was confiscated by Italian police in the port of Trieste as part of sanctions against wealthy oligarchs.
Designed by Philippe Starck and built by Nobiskrug in Germany, the ship is the largest sailing yacht in the world, with a length of 143 meters.
A statement from the Official Journal of the European Union described Mr Melnichenko, who created the fortune by recycling rubbish and coal, as belonging to the most influential circle of Russian businessmen and with close ties to the Russian government.
However, a spokesman for Mr Melnichenko said the businessman “had nothing to do with the tragic events in Ukraine and no political connection”.
A number of sanctioned oligarchs have sought to relocate their superyachts to safer places in recent months to avoid confiscation and the deployment of the ship in the UAE is a symbolic reminder of the Gulf states’ neutrality to the Russian occupation of Ukraine and its ties. her with the Kremlin.
