European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen addressed the European Parliament on Monday, expressing the bloc’s commitment to halting Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.
Von der Leyen announced that for the first time, the EU is using the European budget to purchase and distribute military equipment in a country under attack, as it promised an additional € 500 million in humanitarian aid.
She said the EU would never accept Ukraine’s takeover of Russia and that Putin’s actions only served to make the Union members more united.
